ABOUT

Our Story

Hello, I’m Anna founder of FRESH Art Club here in London, UK and crazily passionate about all things arty, fun, colourful and creative (also married mum of 2 humans and slave to 2 cats).

FRESH Art Club started many moons ago in 2013 with a little lunchtime art club at my children's primary school and it all grew from there.

FRESH is now a space where children and young people aged 6-15 can flex and explore their creativity in an inclusive pressure free environment, find their tribe and have a whole heap of fun along the way. We try to cover all areas of visual arts and approach things with a fresh perspective and lots of curiosity

Anna Bhowmick
Founder, FRESH Art Club

Anna gained a BA (Hons) Surface Pattern and Printed Textiles Degree at Leeds College of Art and Design, and went on to work in fashion and retail, focusing on the creative aspects of buying, visual merchandising and display. She then qualified as teaching assistant, and has experience of working in both primary and high schools.

Ages 6-12

FINALLY! we launched the FRESH Summer Art Camp last summer.

This is something we have wanted to offer for a while, but needed to make sure we had the best venue and people to bring you a fun and inspiring experience, where children can flex and explore their creativity in a relaxed and friendly space.

Art Camp offers a fantastic mix of creativity all in one day!

Led by FRESH Founder Anna who will be joined by various creative independent business owners to deliver fun and engaging activities throughout the day.

The venue

The Polygon is set in the heart of South Ealing with plenty of fresh air and space in it's own enclosed area with outside space, easily accessible by tube, car, bus or foot.

The activities take place in the various bright, airy studios and are divided into 6-8 year old and 9-12 year old groups. Numbers are kept to 12 per workshop making sure the children get the most out of the activity and feel supported.

After a morning in the studios, the children will have lunch and enjoy a fun and engaging break where they might choose to cut loose and run around or put that creativity to use in the form of mindful activities and games. Then back into the studios for an afternoon bursting with creativity!

At FRESH, we are very much a club and not a classroom

All styles of working are encouraged and supported – we are all about giving the children creative freedom, a chance to relax and enjoy themselves and to give them a sense of pride and satisfaction in their work.

Our main aim is to support and help inspire each child to explore their own creativity, giving them the freedom to work in their own way and at their own pace. We provide a space where children can socially interact, make friends and really feel free to have a go at something new and different. During their sessions they will try out and explore a wide variety of different and exciting techniques, materials and themes.

Every 2–3 weeks, we look at a new theme – this could be taking inspiration from famous artists, world events and festivals, or looking at different art forms or media that the children may have not come across before. We spend some time looking at visual sources for inspiration and discussion, demonstrate a project based on the theme, and then we get to work! At the end of a project we spend time looking at each other's work and discussing what we like and why.

We recognise that some children will want lots of support, supervision and guidance, whilst others might prefer to work more independently, and to explore the theme in their own way.

Ages 13-15

Join like-minded students in a relaxed, social art space. You will try a wide range of fun and inspiring techniques and materials that aim to support and develop creative ideas, techniques and practice.

Making art and expressing yourself is a great way to grow confidence and is proven to reduce anxiety and depression. Being creative with other people is also a brilliant way to make new friends and get out and about.

Carrying on the 'club not classroom' ethos from our established and popular art club for 6–12 year-olds, FRESH Foundations introduces some more focused art practices into the usual creative mix with visiting tutors and practising artists along side the usual fun and vibrant FRESH projects.

Cannot recommend enough! Both my kids absolutely love Anna's class and is the highlight of their week. Anna is so flexible and accommodating, she knows her students really well. Her creativity and the thought she puts into her classes to ensure the kids get to try different media and explore something new (and fun!) always amazes me as a parent- I dont know how she does it!

As well as generating wonderful art and letting the kids explore a multitude of different materials and techniques Anna manages to maintain a calm and inclusive atmosphere. I can't recommend Fresh Art highly enough.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

My daughter is a bit shy and didn't really want to do any clubs but really loves art, so I managed to persuade her to go along. She loved it so much she was genuinely excited every week to go, she'd be literally giddy with excitement. The artwork she brought home was gorgeous, so creative, usually colourful and always different - we started a gallery in the kitchen! She's now just turned 9 and is moving up to the 'big kids' class - which again is bringing a few nerves but I just know she'll love it. Anna challenges them and gets their creative minds whirring - it's just a joy see them come out clutching their masterpieces! x

- Rachel Drake

My son loves his classes, Anna is great and makes it interesting and fun
